About
Did you know that you, the author are 100% responsible for marketing and promoting your book 100% of the time?
When I began researching how to publish my book, I assumed that the publishing company and the publicist took care of marketing and promotion.
I know that “sales,” “marketing,” and “promotion” are dirty words among many authors who equate these terms with sleazy used car salesmen. But claiming these words into your own lexicon will empower you to promote your book to its full potential and full audience.
We will be discussing ways for you to handle marketing and promotion of your book like a pro.
Writing your book is NOT the first step.
Building your author platform and knowing exactly who your readers will be IS the first step. Identifying your audience and knowing who your “right people” are will help you:
- Write a better book because you will be able to speak directly to your audience
- Help them solve their immediate problems
- Create a connection with your audience
- Establish your authority on the subject
Confused about publishing jargon?
The publishing industry seems to have a language all to itself, and this jargon can seem very confusing.
New Rules of Book Publishing will define and break down these terms and help you wipe all confusion away:
- Traditional Publishing
- Subsidy Publishing
- Self-publishing
- Vanity Press
- Print on Demand
- and many more
Once this confusion is cleared away, New Rules of Book Publishing will help you decide which publishing model is best for your situation and get you on a path to successfully reaching your market.
New Rules of Book Publishing will help you:
- Recognize your audience
- Describe your platform
- Establish your authority
- Sell more books
So, you probably want to know how I know what I’m talking about here, and I don’t blame you. There’s an awful lot of hype and some sleazy sales pages out there.
You know those pages don’t you? The ones with the screaming red headlines and yellow highlighter all through them. The ones that make you feel like you’re making a huge mistake if you don’t cough up several thousand dollars for their product that will solve all your problems?
I’ve read all of those pages. I’ve looked at many of those products. And I can save you some money and that feeling of betrayal.
- If it feels like an infomercial, save your money
- If it feels overly aggressive in trying to part you from your money, don’t do it
- If it makes you feel slimy or gross, keep your wallet in your pocket.
