How to Create Sticky Ebooks

I had the pleasure of speaking with Kelly Kingman, author of the Sticky Ebook Formula. Publishing is in a transitional phase right now with the rise of self-publishing and the rise of ebooks.

Kelly discusses this transition and shares her insight on the process of writing an ebook, finding a designer, hiring an editor, and spreading the word, building your author platform, and getting noticed.

Make sure to check out Kelly’s new project Ebook Evolution, teaching you to effectively write, design, and market your ebook, a joint production with designer Pamela Wilson.

Listen as she walks us through her five step process for navigating the process of writing your ebook, getting past obstacles, and getting it promoted to a targeted audience who is searching for what you’ve got to share.

I’d love your thoughts on this interview with Kelly Kingman, author of the Sticky Ebook Formula. Is there an ebook in your future?

Yes they are aff links. I highly recommend this book.

This is a great interview: thanks, Kelly, for your candor, and thanks, Carole, for asking good questions.

I love hearing about how Kelly conquered her fears and moved forward. The overview of the basic steps was very helpful, too. Good stuff!

Excellent interview, thank you both! I’ve been interested in learning more about ebook design. A beautifully designed ebook really changes your perception about the quality of the content — and for me, at least, the reading experience equals that of a good print book.

LaVonne, you are a mind reader! Talking with Kelly sparked a desire for my next interview to be with a designer, because good design is so important for both ebooks and paper books. Stay tuned…..

Yay! I was lucky to meet a print book designer in NY years ago, and visit her studio. At the time, I didn’t even know books needed designing, lol! It was fascinating.

Carole and Kelly, Great interview! I have your e-book Kelly and it has helped me move forward on my current project. My fave part of your interview was talking about how people poo-poo self publishing, and I agree that this misconception has come about mostly because many people produce lackluster books that are poorly edited and designed. So great points on making sure you get a decent editor and designer involved. Best foot forward and all that.

I also find that people can charge more for e-books than printed books and the authors get to keep more of the money themselves – all of it in fact, except for affiliate and production costs. Carole, maybe your old fashioned book publishing friends need to know that too! It may help to convince them that e-books are a viable alternative, at least in the informational products market.

Marlene, thanks for your support. This blog is basically a love letter to my author friends who’ve been stuck in an old model and haven’t yet learned that there are other alternatives. And with people like Kelly speaking out so articulately, hopefully that day will come soon.
